Xiaomi has launched a compact Bluetooth tracker called Xiaomi Tag — a direct competitor to Apple AirTag, Samsung Galaxy SmartTag, and similar devices.

The key advantage of the new tracker is full compatibility with the two largest location networks at once: Apple Find My and Google Find Hub.

For now, the tracker is available only in Malaysia, but just days after its official presentation at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona on February 28, it is expected to launch internationally.

How Xiaomi Tag Works

The tracker weighs just 10 grams and is only 7.2 mm thick, making it one of the thinnest and lightest tracking tags on the market. It uses a replaceable battery that, according to Xiaomi, provides up to one year of battery life.

Xiaomi Tag supports two primary modes:

  • Left Behind — alerts the owner if they move too far away from a tagged item.
    • Lost Mode — allows the user to mark an item as lost and attach contact details (phone number or email) so a finder can get in touch.

For Android users, the tracker supports automatic unknown tracker detection: the phone will notify the user if an unfamiliar tag is traveling with them. iPhone users can access the owner’s information by bringing the smartphone close to the tracker, similar to how AirTag works.

Cross-Platform Compatibility — The Main Advantage

Most trackers operate within a single ecosystem: AirTag works only with iPhone, while Galaxy SmartTag is primarily designed for Samsung devices. Xiaomi Tag is among the first devices to fully support both major location networks simultaneously.

This makes it a universal solution for mixed ecosystems — for example, using an iPhone at home and Android at work, or having different devices within a family.

Price and Availability

On Malaysian marketplaces, Xiaomi Tag is already available for about $21. Following its official unveiling at Mobile World Congress 2026, a global release is expected, including in additional international markets.
