Apple won’t have iPhone 15 Pro Max: It will be called Ultra

August 22, 2023  18:09

The oldest model of the iPhone 15 series of smartphones will receive the Ultra index instead of the Pro Max, MacRumors reported, citing journalist and insider Andrew O'Hara.

Information that Apple wants to abandon the Pro Max in favor of the Ultra began to circulate in the media as early as 2022. As MacRumors notes, such respected insiders as Mark Gurman, Ming-Chi Kuo and others wrote about this. However, from the beginning of 2023, those rumors died down. Now, on the eve of Apple’s presentation expected in September, they have resumed again.

O'Hara did not provide further details about the rebranding, but noted that this information has been confirmed to him by several different sources. According to MacRumors, O'Hara has a small but accurate list of insiders. For example, in 2022, he was the first to publish the renders of AirPods Pro 2 earphones.

The website notes that Apple often changes the name of its products during development, so it is no surprise that rumors about the iPhone 15 Ultra come and go. For example, before the release of AirPods Max, everyone believed that the headset would be called AirPods Studio, and the operating system of Vision Pro would be called xrOS, but before the presentation of AirPods Max, it was renamed to visionOS.

According to rumors, the Ultra version will differ from the models mainly with a periscope lens with 6x optical zoom.

There are already news that the presentation of the iPhone 15 series will take place on September 7.

Foxconn has already started the production of iPhone 15 in India, and before that, it has already become known that Apple has decided to produce less iPhone 15. In addition, it is known that the iPhone 15 will receive the fastest charging in the history of Apple smartphones.
