Autumn is gradually sweeping into the gaming industry at full speed: developers are beginning to release, one after another, projects that players have been waiting for for months and even years. October’s lineup spans several completely different gaming genres — from large-scale military shooters and aerial combat to survival and the calm management of a zoo.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — October 23
Autumn is traditionally considered the season of major Call of Duty releases, and this year the series returns with a new installment — Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The game will be released on October 23, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
This time, the story takes players to the Korean Peninsula, where a full-scale invasion by North Korea begins. At the center of the campaign are young South Korean service members trying to survive on a collapsing front line. At the same time, the story of Captain Price unfolds as he wages his own war from the shadows.
The developers promise several locations with very different atmospheres: from combat in Korea to close-quarters fighting in New York, chases in Paris, and nighttime SAS operations in Mumbai. In addition to the story campaign, the game will feature multiplayer and other online modes.
Gears of War: E-Day — October 6
Gears of War: E-Day will take players back to the event that effectively marks the beginning of humanity’s conflict with the Locust. The release is set for October 6, 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X|S; the game will also be available on Game Pass from day one.
The story takes place 14 years before the first Gears of War. At the center of it are the young Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, who find themselves at the very start of the Locust’s catastrophic invasion.
The developers are emphasizing a darker and harsher atmosphere. Players will not only be able to complete the story campaign solo, but also team up with others: local two-player co-op and online co-op for up to four players are planned.
The famous Horde mode will also return, but in a reworked Horde Siege format. In addition, the developers promise an updated PvP mode.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve — October 2
Fans of aerial combat can look forward in October to Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve — a new mainline entry in the series arriving seven years after the previous game. The official release date is October 2, 2026. The game will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The story unfolds in the fictional world of Strangereal. The Federation of Central Usea comes under a swift invasion by the Republic of Sotoa, and the player must take on the role of a pilot forced to join the fight to liberate their homeland.
In addition to aerial combat, the developers promise a story campaign with cinematic scenes, choices that affect the narrative, and the development of relationships within the squadron. The game will also feature major enemies and massive war machines.
Special attention has been given to online play: it will include cooperative PvE battles and a PvPvE mode in which two teams of four players fight each other while also facing computer-controlled enemies.
Enshrouded — full release on October 15
For Enshrouded, October will be an especially important month: on October 15, the game will officially leave Steam Early Access and receive its 1.0 version.
It is a survival-action RPG with an open world, where the player takes on the role of the Flameborn — the last hope of a dying civilization. The world is engulfed in a deadly mist, and the hero’s task is to survive, explore the ruined kingdom, fight bosses, and gradually restore the life it has lost.
One of Enshrouded’s key features remains its combination of survival, building, and role-playing elements. Players can create large-scale structures, explore a vast world, and play together with others — co-op supports up to 16 people.
For the 1.0 release, the developers are preparing not only new content, but also improvements to existing systems and performance optimization, including for mid-range and lower-end PCs.
Planet Zoo 2 — October 13
For those who want construction, animals, and management of their own world instead of battles, October will bring Planet Zoo 2. The game will be released on October 13, 2026 for PC.
The sequel to the popular simulator will allow players to create and manage zoos in different parts of the world. At the same time, the developers are significantly expanding the concept itself: the game will feature fully aquatic and flying animal species.
Players will need to take into account the needs and behavior of the animals, create suitable habitats for them, and develop the zoo’s infrastructure. But management does not end there: animals can be released from zoos into large-scale wildlife reserves, turning the game into not only a management simulator, but also a kind of wildlife conservation system.
