The media has learned about six major new product categories under development at Apple: AirPods with AI features, smart glasses, a wearable pendant, a smart home display, a desktop robot, and a security camera. This was shared by journalist Mark Gurman, known for his access to tech company insights, in an interview with the technology podcast TBPN.

Smart Home as a Key Direction

The smart home display — widely known as the "HomePad" — appears to be the closest to reaching the market. The device is expected to feature a touchscreen with a diagonal of approximately seven inches, an A18 chip, and deep integration with Apple Intelligence and Siri. According to previously published data from Gurman, the HomePad and several other home products — including an updated Apple TV and HomePod mini — have been in warehouses for a long time, awaiting the completion of the updated Siri software development. According to current forecasts, the HomePad will be introduced at the iPhone 18 presentation in September.

An Apple security camera, known by the internal codename J450, is also expected to appear this year. According to Gurman's description, it is a portable "small sensor for home security" with facial recognition features and infrared sensors — designed not only for surveillance but also for home automation: for example, turning off lights in empty rooms or playing music tailored to a specific family member. Reportedly, Apple plans to release an entire line of cameras, which may include a video doorbell with Face ID.

AI Wearables and a Robotic Future

Three AI wearables — smart glasses, AirPods with a built-in camera, and a pendant — constitute what Gurman calls a "three-pronged strategy in the field of AI wearables." Each of them is intended to become the "eyes and ears" of Siri and Apple Intelligence, transmitting visual and contextual data to the iPhone and the cloud.

The smart glasses, codenamed N50, are in the most advanced stage of development. Apple is testing at least four frame shapes made of high-quality acetate; a possible announcement is planned for late 2026 or early 2027, with sales expected to begin in 2027. AirPods with infrared cameras could be released as early as this year, while the pendant — a device in the form of a necklace or clip for those who wear neither glasses nor headphones — is expected in 2027. A desktop robot, resembling an iPad on a rotating robotic arm, is also targeted for a 2027 release.
