The next generation of Mac mini could be the most revolutionary in the last 14 years thanks to the abandonment of the use of USB Type-A interfaces, which will lead to significant changes in the design of the device. This is reported by 9to5Mac with reference to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.

According to Gurman, the new Mac mini will be equipped with the latest M4 processor and an updated set of interfaces, including five USB Type-C ports, an Ethernet connector, HDMI, and a headphone port. The new Mac mini is also expected to use a built-in power supply, which will be a significant improvement for a compact device.

The abandonment of USB Type-A may cause inconvenience for some users, since many accessories, such as wireless mouse adapters, still use this interface. However, 9to5Mac believes that this is a step towards unification and a modern approach that Apple has already applied in its other devices.

For the first time, the Mac mini design will include a front panel with the location of some USB Type-C ports. The number of ports depends on the version of the device, and only the older model will likely receive five connectors.
