American billionaire Elon Musk has announced that his Neuralink startup has developed an experimental visual implant, Blindsight, which will enable even those who were born blind to see.

"Neuralink's Blindsight device will enable even those who have lost both eyes and the optic nerve to see. If the part of the brain responsible for vision is not damaged, it will give the opportunity to see even those who were born blind," Musk wrote on his page on the X social network.

In turn, the Neuralink team announced on its X social network page that the Blindsight implant has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This paves the way for testing the device on humans. The company is already accepting applications from potential patients.

Musk added that the image quality of the implant will be low at first, like the graphics of Atari gaming platforms, but in the future the device will allow to see in the infrared and ultraviolet spectrum, and will also be able to fix the wavelength of the radar.

Neuralink has already successfully implanted the implant produced by the company in the brain of the second paralyzed person, which helps them to control the computer with the power of thought.
