New data about iPhone 16 Pro: Battery to receive metal frame instead of foil

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro, scheduled for release in 2024, will receive a battery with a metal frame: its capacity relative to the iPhone 15 Pro will be increased by only 81 mAh, as reported by the Chinese publication 163.com with reference to “spy” photos published by the Kuai Technology portal News.

According to the leaked images, the iPhone 16 Pro battery will have a solid metal frame instead of the traditional foil. The photos also show the battery characteristics, including a capacity of 3355 mAh and a charging voltage of up to 4.48 V. It turns out that the capacity of the new smartphone will increase by only 2.5% compared to the iPhone 15 Pro (3274 mAh).

The portal 163.com notes that the purpose of the metal frame is not yet clear, but it is assumed that it can improve heat dissipation. This is quite relevant, especially given the problems with overheating of the iPhone 15 series smartphones.

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 16 Pro in the fall of 2024.

According to rumors and leaks, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature periscope cameras with six-fold optical zoom, dedicated solid-state volume buttons, and an under-screen Face ID feature. Moreover, these will be the largest smartphones in Apple's history: iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have screens with diagonals of 6.3 and 6.9 inches, respectively.
