WhatsApp messenger users will now be able to send high resolution photos. In addition, the recipient, in turn, can decide in what quality he wants to receive the photo, The Verge reports.
The newspaper notes that the innovation does not work automatically. To send a photo in HD quality, the user must click the new "HD" button in the top menu before sending the photo.
In this case, the photo will be sent with a minimum click, but not without it. It is still not possible to send the entire photo without clicking. An HD icon will appear next to the photo in the chat, indicating that the image quality is high.
The standard resolution of photos sent to WhatsApp is 1600×1052 pixels, while HD quality will allow you to increase this to 4096×2692 pixels. However, the recipient of such a photo will be able to choose whether they want to download it in high or reduced resolution.
The new feature will gradually roll out to all WhatsApp users in the near future. After that, the developers plan to add the function of sending high-resolution videos to the messenger.
WhatsApp regularly introduces new features. Recently, it became known that users in this messenger will soon be able to create their own stickers with the help of artificial intelligence. WhatsApp also recently announced that it will add a new feature to protect messages. In another innovation, the messenger has also recently introduced a function to add multiple accounts to one phone at the same time.
