Samsung has accidentally leaked the release date of its Galaxy Ring, as well as some of its specifications, Gizmochina.com reports.

The company has launched legal proceedings to obtain legal confirmation that the Galaxy Ring does not infringe the patents of Finland's Oura, one of the major players in this product category.

On the third page of the lawsuit, Samsung stated that they have completed the development of the Galaxy Ring and plan to start mass production of the product in mid-June this year. The document also states that Samsung will launch the new product in the US "around August this year". The company did not say in which other countries the new ring will be available.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Ring alongside its 6th generation foldable smartphones at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July. The company already has a precedent of announcing foldable smartphones in July and releasing them in early August. Therefore, according to the source, the lawsuit effectively confirms rumors that Samsung will announce a new ring at the Galaxy Unpacked event.

The document also divulges some of the specifications of the Galaxy Ring. Specifically, it says that based on health and fitness tracking technologies including the Galaxy Watch and the Samsung Health app, the Galaxy Ring tracks heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, movement and sleep, providing users with valuable information and advice to improve their well-being and health.

It is reported that the overall health monitoring system will also estimate the energy level in the human body based on the recorded data.
