WhatsApp developers have simplified the process of transferring chats from an old device to a new one using QR codes, according to WABetaInfo.

The new feature was spotted in beta version 2.23.9.19 of WhatsApp for Android. This functionality allows users to transfer their account, chats, and all data between old and new smartphones. It aims to make the process of transferring message history easier when switching phones.

Previously, transferring chats in WhatsApp required using the Google Drive cloud service. Now, beta users have a simpler and faster option. Users just need to display a QR code on the screen of the new device and scan it with the old smartphone to instantly transfer all chats directly, without the need to create cloud backups.

For now, users of stable versions of WhatsApp on Android still have the option to transfer data using Google Drive. For iPhone users, Apple's iCloud service is used. It is not yet known when QR codes will be available to all WhatsApp users.
