The new generation of Apple Watch smartwatches will have a thinner case and a larger display, writes reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in his blog. The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to be unveiled in September, alongside the announcement of the new iPhones. According to Kuo, the screen sizes of the two Apple Watch models will increase.

Along with the screens, the sizes of the devices themselves will grow. The more compact version will increase in length from 41 to 44 millimeters, and the larger version from 45 to 49 millimeters. How this will affect ergonomics is unknown.

The specifications of the next version of the Apple Watch Ultra will remain "roughly the same" as the current model, although a variant with a darker case may be introduced if production volumes meet expectations, added Kuo. The watches will include components manufactured using 3D printing technology, noted the expert.

Apple has not yet begun mass production of devices using 3D printing technology. The company tested the capabilities of 3D printing in the production of the Apple Watch Series 9 in 2023. The technology, in particular, allowed for reduced production time and the amount of materials used in the devices. According to Kuo, these tests "significantly increased" production efficiency.

The supplier of 3D-printed components for the new Apple smartwatches will be Bright Laser Technologies, says Kuo. The expert notes that demand for parts from the Chinese 3D printing company is expected to grow in the coming years due to the cost advantages of this technology. Kuo also mentioned the prospects of using this technology in the production of Apple Watch cases.
