Ironic and unrestricted։ Grok chatbot by Elon Musk's company has become available to X subscribers

December 8, 2023  14:19

Elon Musk announced the launch of an AI bot in a post on the X social network, without revealing the details of the launch. Last month, he stated that once Grok exits early beta testing, it will be available to paid subscribers with the highest Premium+ level (for $16 per month). Subscribers with the Premium level will likely gain access to the bot a bit later.

"Grok is an artificial intelligence created in the image of the guide from 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and is designed to answer practically everything and, more challenging, even suggest what questions to ask! Grok is created to cleverly respond to questions, and it has a rebellious streak, so please don't use it if you dislike humor," developers described their creation at its announcement last summer.

The xAI chatbot visually resembles similar bots. To interact with it, users are encouraged to use the corresponding field for forming queries. According to developers, Grok's main advantage lies in its ability to answer almost any question thanks to access to X social network data in real-time.

Elon Musk launched xAI in July in response to efforts by IT giants in the field of artificial intelligence, which he criticized for excessive censorship and lack of adequate security measures. Major technology companies, including Microsoft and Google, are rushing to launch AI-based products after the ChatGPT chatbot from OpenAI amazed companies and users worldwide. It's worth noting that Musk was also one of the founders of OpenAI in 2015 but left the company's board of directors in 2018.

As more advertisers are leaving microblogging platforms, the billionaire has emphasized reducing the company's dependence on ads and has focused on subscriptions. The latest feature, the sarcastic Grok, is intended to make them more appealing. Musk also intends to transform X into a "super app," offering users a range of services—from messaging and social networking to peer-to-peer payments.
