A ceremonial cancellation of a double-sided postal card dedicated to the summit and exhibition took place during the Silicon Mountains 2026 technology summit, held in Yerevan on November 3. The postcard was issued by HayPost CJSC in a print run of 500 copies and has philatelic value.
The ceremonial cancellation of a postal card has already become an annual Silicon Mountains tradition. As Hovik Musayelyan, chairman of the Armenian Philatelists Association, noted, such issues are not only symbolic but also of interest to collectors, enriching various philatelic collections.
According to him, it is also particularly significant that the issuance of postcards, stamps and special envelopes dedicated to important events is included in the annual state plan. A special commission within the Ministry of High-Tech Industry determines the relevant program. Thus, significant events in Armenia are reflected not only in the events themselves but also in official postal products.
The ceremony was attended by Armenia's Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Mantashyan, HayPost Chief Executive Officer Shushan Aleksanyan, Executive Director of the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies (UEICT) Eduard Musayelyan, Ucom Director General Ralph Yirikian, and Chairman of the Armenian Philatelists Association Hovik Musayelyan.
Shushan Aleksanyan emphasized that HayPost's participation in Silicon Mountains has become a cherished annual tradition, offering a distinctive way to celebrate Armenia's technological development and achievements. She also drew attention to the practical purpose of the issue: the postcard is a valid postal item bearing an official postage indicium.
“Once you purchase this postcard, you can send it from any HayPost branch to any address anywhere in the world, writing a wish or a message, or even leaving it blank, and spread the word about this important event,” the company's head noted. According to her, the postcard has a limited print run of just 500 copies and will not be reprinted.
Ucom Director General Ralph Yirikian, in turn, noted the symbolic role of postal products in representing the country abroad. He drew a parallel between a passport, which allows people to travel the world, and postage stamps, which allow the country itself to “travel.” “We have a passport that lets us travel around the world, and stamps that allow our country to travel the world too,” Yirikian said, expressing his joy and pride at the ceremony.
The front of the postcard bears the inscriptions “Silicon Mountains 2026” and “Technology Summit and Exhibition” in Armenian and English. The reverse features a photograph from the Silicon Mountains summit held in Armenia in 2025.
At the end of the ceremony, participants were invited to sign special envelopes that will become part of the commemorative philatelic issue.
