Apple has unveiled HomeView, a device for controlling a smart home, making video calls, and accessing the company’s services. The hub runs on the A18 processor and supports Apple Intelligence, while its features adapt to different family members. The new product will be released in two versions — with a tabletop stand and for wall mounting. Both models will be priced at $299.

Display, sound, and two body versions

HomeView features a 7-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1088 × 1088 pixels, a pixel density of 220 ppi, and brightness of up to 500 nits. The screen supports True Tone and touch controls, while the oleophobic coating reduces fingerprint smudges.

The tabletop version comes with an aluminum base with an adjustable tilt angle and will be available in four colors. For wall placement, Schneider Home mounts are предусмотрены and will have to be purchased separately.

Wide-range speakers are responsible for sound output. The tabletop model also includes a subwoofer and passive radiators. The device supports spatial audio and Dolby Atmos.

For video calls, there is a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with the Center Stage feature, which helps keep the person in frame. Wireless interfaces include Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, and Thread. Four far-field microphones allow users to give voice commands, and the hub itself can also respond to signals from smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Personal features for the whole family

HomeView can recognize up to six family members and offer personalized features to each of them. For example, only recognized users will be able to reply to iMessage messages and emails. At the same time, shared iCloud photos and music will remain available to all family members.

Personal widgets can be placed on the home screen. A conversation with Siri also does not have to end on the home hub: it can start on HomeView and then continue on a compatible iPhone or iPad.

Support for Apple Intelligence is expected to expand the capabilities of the voice assistant and make interaction with the device more personalized.

Price and release timing

Apple has already opened preorders for HomeView in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Starting October 15, the device will also be available to order in Singapore, and it will appear in retail stores on November 13.

Both versions of the hub cost $299. Buyers of the wall-mounted model will need to pay separately for the mount.

At the same time, the sales geography is limited: HomeView will not be available in European Union countries due to regulatory requirements related to Siri’s artificial intelligence features.
