American billionaire Elon Musk believes that the United States will never be able to send the first people to Mars if the Democratic candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, wins the presidential election. He wrote about this on X social network.

"We will never get to Mars if Kamala wins," Musk wrote, clarifying his position by saying that laws and regulations in the US will get worse every year under Harris unless significant reforms are made in the public sector.

In his view, this will happen until "every major endeavor, from running high-speed rail between our cities to creating life on multiple planets, is effectively illegal."

"Trump supports a government efficiency committee to allow big things to be done, but Kamala doesn't," the SpaceX founder emphasized.

Earlier, on September 8, Musk announced that the Starship spacecraft would be able to go to Mars unmanned in two years. If the landing is successful, passenger transportation to Mars will be carried out in four years, he said. According to Musk, the main goal of the flights is to create a "self-sufficient city" on Mars in 20 years.

The Starship prototype successfully landed in the Indian Ocean for the first time on its fourth test flight in June 2024. In addition, tests with the Super Heavy rocket and Starship have been going on for several years. In 2023, both launches ended with the explosion of the rocket.

China plans to send humans to Mars in 2033, while the American corporation NASA aims to do so by the late 2030s or early 2040s.
