Satellite connection, Kirin 9000S chip and 5 cameras: Huawei has introduced the Pocket 2 foldable smartphone

Huawei has introduced its new foldable smartphone, the Pocket 2. The device features an improved hinge design that, according to the manufacturer, eliminates the crease on the display along the folding line. Additionally, it is the first foldable smartphone equipped with a system of four rear cameras.

The primary internal display of the Huawei Pocket 2 measures 6.94 inches. It is an OLED matrix with a resolution of 1136 × 2690 pixels, supporting a refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and brightness modulation (PWM) at a frequency of 1440 Hz. On the external side of the device, next to the camera module, there is an additional 1.15-inch round screen with a resolution of 340 × 340 pixels and a refresh rate from 1 to 60 Hz.

Powering the device is a 7nm octa-core Kirin 9000S processor. It includes one custom Cortex-A78 core with a frequency of 2.62 GHz, three custom Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.15 GHz, four Cortex-A510 cores with a frequency of 1.53 GHz, and a Mali-G78 MP24 GPU with a frequency of 750 MHz. The smartphone is equipped with 12 GB of RAM and will be available in configurations with 256 GB and 512 GB of internal storage, as well as a 1 TB version.

The primary rear camera module of the Huawei Pocket 2 consists of a 50 MP sensor with optical stabilization, laser autofocus, and an f/1.6 lens, an 8 MP telephoto module with three times optical zoom, optical stabilization, and an f/2.4 lens, a 12 MP wide-angle module with an f/2.2 lens, and a 2 MP hyperspectral module with an f/2.0 lens. At the top of the main screen, there is a 10.7 MP camera.

The smartphone is equipped with a 4520 mAh battery, supporting 40W wireless charging and 66W wired charging. Huawei Pocket 2 also supports bidirectional satellite communication through the Beidou system.

Among other features, the device includes stereo speakers, NFC, a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button, dual SIM card support, a slot for proprietary NM Cards up to 512 GB, and IPX8 water resistance. The smartphone runs on the HarmonyOS 4 operating system.

Huawei Pocket 2 will be available for purchase starting from February 22. Initially, the device will be offered only in China. The smartphone comes in four colors: Tahitian Gray (gray), Rococo White (white), Purple (purple), and Black.

Additionally, the manufacturer will offer a special Art Custom Edition. It is covered with extra durable Kunlun 2 glass with a ribbed surface, has 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of internal storage, and comes in a special gift set.

The prices for Huawei Pocket 2 in the configuration with 256 GB of internal storage are 7499 yuan ($1040), the version with 512 GB of internal storage is priced at 7999 yuan ($1110), and the 1 TB variant costs 8499 yuan ($1180). The special Art Custom Edition has a price tag of 10,999 yuan (over $1500).
