There are germs on surface of most smartphones: What danger do they pose and how to avoid it?

The surfaces of the vast majority (94%) of mobile phones have shown an excess presence of bacteria, as reported by Rospotrebnadzor. According to the data from the supervisory authority, various types of staphylococci are most frequently found on the surfaces of mobile phones and computer keyboards. Among them, a potentially dangerous golden staphylococcus stands out, which is difficult to treat with antibiotics.

Rospotrebnadzor notes that many people neglect the hygiene of their gadgets, especially by taking phones to the bathroom, which increases the risk of bacterial contamination. The primary transmission pathways for infections are the face, nose, and mouth, which people touch with their hands after using dirty gadgets.

Rospotrebnadzor emphasizes that even with thorough hand hygiene, individuals do not ensure complete protection from infections, considering the constant contact with gadgets in daily life.

As a preventive measure, the supervisory authority recommends treating smartphones with alcohol-based antiseptic agents. The use of a case also requires regular disinfection.
