The psychological horror game MADiSON from Bloodious Games ranked the scariest game in the world, surpassing the most famous titles in the horror genre - Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

The rating of British company Broadband Choices is not based on the subjective viewpoints of gamers, but on the more objective data. In an experiment, experts showed 200 participants random episodes of 45 horror games and recorded the total rate of heart beats of the players and the highest jump in heart rate. As you know, when a person is scared, his heart rate increases.

As it turned out, for most of the participants of the experiment, the highest values of heart rate were recorded when watching frames from MADiSON – a game from the studio Bloodious Games, which tells the story of a teenager who got into the hands of a camera that once belonged to a serial killer. The average heart rate of those watching the frames from this game was 97, and the highest jump was recorded at 131 beats per minute.

Moreover, the well-known Resident Evil and Silent Hill did not even make it into the top three. The second place was taken by Alien: Isolation, followed by Visage, Five Night at Freddy's 4, and Outlast 2.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil: Village are in 6th, 11th, and 16th places respectively. Silent Hill 4: The Room came in 14th place, while Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 2 were 19th and 23rd respectively.

Intriguing and atmospheric Bloodborne also made the list and came in 7th.

Interestingly, P.T. by Hideo Kojima was excluded from the research because it is only a demo version, not a full-fledged game. But it is possible that if P.T. had been included in the ranking, it would most likely have come in the first place, becasue when a small group of 15 participants was shown the teaser of the game their average heart rate reached 99 beats per minute and the peak value was 135 beats per minute.
