Billionaire Elon Musk, who bought the Twitter social site at the end of October last year, has repeatedly said that he intends to turn it into a super application combining many functions. Now it seems that the first step is being taken in this direction։ soon users of the platform will be able to send each other encrypted messages and make voice and video calls without using a phone number.

According to Reuters, this conclusion can be drawn from Elon Musk's comments on Twitter.

"Coming soon will be voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number," Musk said in a tweet on Tuesday.

According to Musk, as of today, May 10, the function of exchanging encrypted messages with other people will be available. However, there is no word on whether or when voice and video calls will also be encrypted.

As part of another innovation, social network engineers will start archiving the content of pages whose owners have not used them for several years. Musk also wrote about this.

According to the current rules of the platform, the user must log in to his account at least once in thirty days, otherwise it may be recognized as inactive and subsequently deleted.

Twitter has recently launched an option to monetize content: popular authors can now offer readers the option to purchase a subscription to their material.

In addition, artificial intelligence can be integrated into this platform in the future. According to reports, Elon Musk plans to develop his own model of generative AI, although it is not yet clear what exactly it will be used for.
