WhatsApp's promised new feature is now available to everyone

The function that allows to simultaneously log into one WhatsApp messenger account from several devices, which was previously open only to users of the beta version of the service, is now available to everyone, WhatsApp said on its official blog.

WhatsApp announced Companion mode at the beginning of April this year. For a long time, this mode was available only to a limited number of users, and later it appeared in WhatsApp 2.23.8.2 beta version for Android devices. And now, in fact, it is available to everyone.

To access the same user account again from the same device, it is necessary to scan the special QR code displayed on the screen of the main smartphone with the camera of the additional device. A similar authentication system works in the web version of WhatsApp.

The new function became available simultaneously in both the iOS and Android version of the messenger. To use it, you just need to visit the App Store or Google Play and download the WhatsApp update.

WhatsApp had earlier announced that it was developing a feature to use animated emojis in chat, which was spotted in the beta version of the service for PC computers. Animated emojis aim to improve the user experience by making messaging "more fun" and emotions "brighter".

Recently, WhatsApp also announced that for the first time in recent years, the design of the messenger will be changed for smartphones running on the Android operating system. The updated home page design is still available in beta version 2.23.8.4 of WhatsApp for Android. The WhatsApp interface will be more similar to the iPhone version: a navigation panel will appear at the bottom of the messenger screen. In the current version, the application sections are located at the top of the screen.
