The Chinese company LimX Dynamics presented the "world's first modular bipedal robot" - Tron 1. The height of the robot is only 85 cm. A walking robot's limbs can be modified for different modes of locomotion, from mimicking a human gait to moving on wheels. This robot, which costs $15,000, is a real find for research and development in the field of robotics, reports New Atlas.

The robot is able to calmly climb the stairs, make jumps, and also rotate in place. Changing the legs and replacing them with wheels is only a matter of minutes.

LimX Dynamics has previously demonstrated humanoid robots and four-legged robot dogs. The Tron 1 robot is somewhat of a compromise in that it has no torso or arms, and lacks a second pair of legs. But this is a convenient and relatively affordable platform for students and professionals to explore the capabilities of upright robots and acquire skills in the field of robotics.

The robot already has basic stability programming, including balance if it is pushed or bumped. It automatically detects the type of limbs installed - soles, round ends or wheels - and moves depending on the type installed. The robot can also be controlled by remote control. There is also the possibility of mounting additional devices, from lidars to manipulators.

The Tron 1 robot is made of aluminum and plastic and weighs about 20 kg. It is based on the 12th generation Intel Core i3 processor. With a fully charged battery, the robot can work for about two hours. The price of $15,000 set for it will change after some time.
