Lenovo showcased concepts of wireless keyboard and mouse at the CES 2024 that will never require charging. The set, named Mechanical Energy Harvesting Combo, relies on mechanical movement and solar energy for charging.

According to the company's statement, these sources of energy are sufficient to charge the peripheral devices and provide them with a reasonable amount of autonomy.

If, for some reason, charging the keyboard and mouse from the sun is not possible, they can be manually powered. The keyboard has a wheel in the upper left corner, which needs to be turned for about 5 minutes to provide approximately half an hour of active typing. The mouse also features a lever that needs to be turned for just about a minute to charge the mouse for a similar 30 minutes of autonomous operation.

However, the company has not provided specific timelines for the market release of this unique development. It's possible that the "solar-mechanical" keyboard and mouse will remain at the concept level. In the meantime, visitors to the CES 2024 exhibition had the opportunity to test these devices.
