A large-scale technical problem occurred in the Telegram messenger last night, which led to service disruptions around the world. Users were unable to send messages, download media files, and also faced issues with updating information in channels. The outage lasted about an hour and a half.

According to the Center for Monitoring and Management of Public Communications Network of the Russian Federation, the first complaints about Telegram problems began to be received after 21:00 Moscow time (after 22:00 Yerevan time). Users from Russia, Belarus and other countries complained that they could not send messages and update Telegram channels. The outage affected both the Telegram mobile app and its web version equally.

According to the Downdetector service, more than 68% of Telegram problem reports were related to not being able to send a message, 25% of complaints fell to Moscow and Moscow region. Another 14% to St. Petersburg and Leningrad region.

As of 11:00 p.m., Telegram has started to gradually recover. As a result of the failure, old messages sent about two months ago began to appear in the chat.

It should be noted that the last time a mass failure occurred in Telegram was on April 2, 2022. At that time, most of the reports about the problems came from Moscow. The social network did not announce the reasons for the failure.
