Hamster Kombat, a game that is rapidly gaining popularity, could potentially lead to mental problems for some people. Children are especially susceptible to such problems, as psychologists warn.

Impact on children

Psychologist Natalya Naumova noted in an interview with Izvestia that if collecting the largest number of coins becomes a super idea in a child, he may refuse to sleep, communicate with people and devote all his time to the gadget.

Here are the possible problems the expert notes:

  • Children can become addicted to Hamster Kombat as the game releases dopamine easily. This may lead to loss of interest in other activities.
  • Frequent gaming can lead to deterioration of attention and memory, increased temper and aggression.
  • If a child does not communicate with other people and sleep normally, all this can lead to overstrain of the nervous system and increase the risk of developing mental illness.
  • Devoting all the time to play, a child may try to hide from what he is not doing well (for example, from relationships with parents or peers, or from studying). But as a result, this will only lead to even greater maladjustment, and existing problems will not be solved.

Psychotherapist Vladimir Fainzilberg also notes that the passion for gadgets distracts children from reading, outdoor games and independent thinking. Addiction in children and adolescents occurs more quickly due to the immaturity of their psyche and the lack of an appropriate example on the part of their parents.

Tips for parents

What can be done to prevent these problems from occurring in a child? Here's what experts share:

  • Parents are advised to diversify their child’s leisure time by choosing hobbies in which he will feel significant and be surrounded by like-minded people.
  • It is important to spend more time with your child on common activities to prevent negative consequences from excessive play.
