iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: New camera details

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, expected to be released later this year, will have two 48-megapixel cameras.

As reported by MacRumors citing Chinese insider OvO Baby Sauce OvO, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with a new main camera with a resolution of 48 megapixels, based on the Sony IMX903 sensor. This sensor will feature a multi-layer design and a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter, which promises improved image quality. Additionally, the camera will be equipped with digital dynamic range gain and noise control (DCG) technology, which will significantly improve the quality of images in various lighting conditions.

The iPhone 16 Pro has a 48 megapixel Sony IMX803 sensor, which was already used in last year’s model.

However, innovations are not limited to the main camera. Both smartphones will also receive 48 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras. Previously, Apple used ultra-wide-angle modules with a resolution of 12 megapixels. The new sensor will capture more light and provide high-quality photos even in low light conditions.

Rumors about similar camera updates are confirmed by other authoritative sources. Insider Digital Chat Station previously stated that the iPhone 16 Pro will receive significant camera improvements. It is expected that the third camera, a telephoto lens, will retain the 12 megapixel resolution, but in the future, according to rumors, Apple plans to introduce a smartphone in which all cameras will be equipped with 48 megapixel sensors, including the front camera. This innovation could be implemented as early as 2025.

According to rumors, the iPhone 16 Pro may receive an updated design of the camera block, as well as twice the amount of memory in the minimum version and a narrower frame around the screen thanks to the implementation of Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is also rumored to receive the largest battery in the history of the series (capacity 4676 mAh) and may become the leader in battery life among all iPhone models.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max can also get up to 2TB of storage. According to rumors, the Pro model will have a 6.3-inch screen, and the Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch screen. For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max use 6.1- and 6.7-inch displays, respectively.

It is also known that the camera unit and the entire design of the Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will most likely differ from previous models, however, there will most likely be no significant changes in the design of the Pro and Pro Max models.
