The Red Magic brand officially unveiled its flagship smartphone, the Red Magic 9S Pro, today. The device has several notable features. For instance, it has a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen without any cutouts (the 16-megapixel front camera is hidden under the screen). But more importantly, the Red Magic 9S Pro is based on an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which first appeared in the Samsung Galaxy S24.

In the case of Samsung, the platform is called Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, but the Chinese call it Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Advanced or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading. The differences from the regular version of the platform are an increased CPU frequency of up to 3.4 GHz and a GPU running at 1 GHz. The SoC is cooled by the ICE 13.5 system, which includes not only a large vapor chamber but also a fan.

The display has a resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels and occupies 93.7% of the front panel area. The refresh rate is 120 Hz, and the PWM adjustment frequency is 2160 Hz. The screen provides 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage.

The Red Magic 9S Pro is available in two versions, which differ in the power subsystem. The Pro version has a 6500 mAh battery with 80-watt charging support, while the Pro+ version has a 5500 mAh battery and 165-watt charging.

The device's camera features sensors with resolutions of 50 MP (Samsung S5KGN5, OIS), 50 MP (Samsung S5KJN1, in the module with an ultra-wide-angle lens), and 2 MP (GalaxyCore GC02M1).

The price of the base version of the smartphone with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory is $660. The top version, the Red Magic 9S Pro+ Dark Knight with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of flash memory, costs $965.
