Is Samsung preparing a competitor to the Apple Vision Pro?

The company Samsung is likely developing Galaxy Glasses augmented reality glasses, which could potentially become a competitor to the Apple Vision Pro headset. This was reported by GizmoChina, citing Samsung patents discovered by enthusiasts from Patently Apple.

Drawings of Galaxy Glasses from the patents show magnetic connectors at the base of the temples, which are needed for charging from the carrying case. The glasses' batteries are located directly in the temples, eliminating the need for an external power source like the Vision Pro.

The patent does not mention cameras or sensors, components typically used in mixed and augmented reality devices. It is assumed that this is due to the nature of leaked documents, which focus on describing and presenting the design of Galaxy Glasses.

The leaked materials also depict two versions of a carrying case for the glasses. One of them suggests the presence of transparent cutouts in the lid, through which the headset itself can be seen.

GizmoChina emphasized that despite the existence of patents, it is too early to draw conclusions about the development of Galaxy Glasses. It is quite possible that Samsung once considered creating its own mixed, augmented, or extended reality headset but dismissed the idea as unsuccessful.
