Apple Watch works after 1.5 years in the ocean

An Apple Watch owner found his device using the "Find My" feature a year and a half after it had sunk in the ocean. This was reported by 9to5Mac.

In June 2022, American Jared Brick went to the Caribbean to celebrate his son's birthday. To mark the occasion and stay connected even without his iPhone, he bought Apple Watches for himself and his son.

During his regular diving sessions, which he conducted twice a day, the watch accidentally slipped off his wrist and was lost in the ocean. Upon discovering the loss, Brick activated Lost Mode, not really expecting to see the watch again.

A year and a half later, in December 2023, Brick received a message from an unknown person who had found the watch. The device was still working, allowing the finder to see Brick's contact number. Eventually, the Apple Watch was mailed back to its owner, and to Brick's surprise, the watch was still functioning as if it had never been underwater.

"Amazing, many thanks to Jonathan from the Caribbean for finding it, contacting me, and sending it back, and to Apple for creating such incredible technology," said Brick.
