NordPass has published a list of the 20 most common passwords that users continue to use in 2023. All of these passwords are extremely easy to hack and do not provide any security to your accounts.

The list was compiled by the developers of the NordPass password manager together with information security researchers.

Here are the top 20 most dangerous passwords:

  1. 123456: Used 4,524,867 times, crack time 1 second.
  2. admin: Used 4,008,850 times, hack time - 1 second.
  3. 12345678: Used 1,371,152 times, crack time 1 second.
  4. 123456789: Used 1,213,047 times, crack time 1 second.
  5. 1234: Used 969,811 times, crack time - 1 second.
  6. 12345: Used 728,414 times, crack time 1 second.
  7. password: Used 710,321 times, cracking time - 1 second.
  8. 123: Used 528,086 times, crack time 1 second.
  9. Aa123456: Used 319,725 times, crack time 1 second.
  10. 1234567890: Used 302,709 times, crack time 1 second.
  11. 1234567: Used 234,187 times, crack time 1 second.

  13. 111111: Used 191,392 times, crack time 1 second.
  14. Password: Used 177,725 times, cracking time - 1 second.
  15. 12345678910: Used 172,502 times, crack time 1 second.
  16. 000000: Used 168,653 times, crack time 1 second.
  17. ****: Used 152,497 times, crack time - 1 second.
  18. user: Used 146,233 times, hack time - 1 second.
  19. admin123: Used 159,497 times, crack time - 11 seconds.
  20. UNKNOWN: Used 240,377 times, cracking time - 17 minutes.

As you can see from the list, almost all of these passwords, with the exception of two, can be cracked by brute force systems in just one second. Only the passwords "admin123" and "UNKNOWN" take longer to crack - 11 seconds and 17 minutes, respectively. But this is by no means enough to consider these passwords reliable.
