Nvidia is investing $3 billion in Meta as part of an expanded partnership that calls for closer collaboration between the companies on the Muse AI agent platform. The companies announced this on Tuesday.
The deal reflects Nvidia’s growing role not only as a provider of computing power, but also as an investor in the largest AI companies. Major investments give developers additional resources to rapidly expand infrastructure, while helping Nvidia strengthen relationships with potential major customers and secure future demand for its technologies, Axios reports.
Investment as part of a major share offering
Nvidia will purchase $3 billion worth of shares as part of Meta’s $95 billion offering, which the company announced on Monday.
According to Nvidia, the partners intend to expand their joint work on Muse and the platform’s family of models, with a particular focus on improving training and inference performance — the process by which a trained AI model processes requests and generates responses.
Meta is developing AI agents capable not only of answering questions, but also of carrying out tasks on behalf of users. Such systems could become one of the key directions in the development of consumer AI services.
“We are excited to continue working with Nvidia to build the best personal AI agents and cutting-edge models for billions of people,” said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described AI agents as a new computing paradigm: “This is software that understands our goals, reasons, uses tools, and performs work on our behalf.”
Nvidia strengthens its position in the AI ecosystem
For Nvidia, the investment in Meta is not only a financial transaction, but also a way to strengthen ties with one of the largest AI developers. As demand for training and deploying models grows, companies are investing enormous sums in computing infrastructure, and Nvidia remains one of the key suppliers of hardware for such tasks.
Investments in AI companies help the chipmaker maintain partnerships with potential customers and participate in financing their further growth. At the same time, the expanded cooperation with Meta should help both sides improve the Muse models and the infrastructure required for their operation.
The companies also published an image of Jolly — Muse’s mascot that has become popular — dressed like Jensen Huang, including his signature leather jacket.
