Features of next-generation AirPods headphones are unveiled: When will it be released?

In 2024, Apple will introduce the fourth generation of its wireless earphones, AirPods, with several new features aimed at making the gadget more appealing to consumers. This information is reported by MacRumors, citing an insider and correspondent from Bloomberg, Mark Gurman.

Apple will release two versions of AirPods 4 with different prices, intended to replace AirPods 2 and AirPods 3, as they have few differences and can confuse buyers.

The headphones in 2024 will feature an updated design, described by Gurman as something between the current AirPods and AirPods Pro with shorter stems. It is expected that the fit will be improved, but it is still unclear whether Apple will add silicone tips.

The updated case will be equipped with speakers for Find My notifications and a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning. The higher-end version of AirPods 4 will include active noise cancellation (ANC), a feature previously available only in the Pro models. This will allow customers to enjoy ANC at a more affordable price.

As part of a software update, Apple will introduce a hearing aid mode, making AirPods a non-prescription alternative to traditional medical devices. Apple also plans to implement tests for checking hearing quality.

According to Gurman, AirPods 4 will be available for purchase in September 2024.
