The beta version of WhatsApp's Android and iOS apps has added a new feature that lets you record and send 60-second-long video messages, just like in the Telegram messenger.

As reported by the WABetaInfo portal, the new function has appeared in versions 23.12.0.71 for iOS and 2.23.13.4 for Android. The new feature works in the same way as in Telegram: when you press the microphone button in the chat, the mode changes from voice message recording to video message recording mode.

To view the video message, you need to enlarge it by clicking on the video. But the recipient must also have this version of WhatsApp that supports this feature.

According to the source, the video messages are encrypted and the recipient cannot forward them to other users. However, the ability to protect the device's screen from video recording is not provided by the messenger.

It is not yet known when the innovation will appear in stable versions of WhatsApp.

WhatsApp recently introduced a new feature, Channels, which is a simple, reliable and confidential way to follow important news about people and organizations without leaving the app.

Recently, it has also become possible to send photos in HD quality, create nicknames for yourself, which will help simplify the search for a contact without a phone number, protect personal correspondence with a password or biometric data and many other functions.

Another long-awaited feature that recently appeared in WhatsApp is the ability to edit the messages that have already been sent. However, this can be done within 15 minutes of sending the message.
