A new feature has been spotted in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android (code number 2.23.9.19) that will allow users to move their correspondence from one device to another without saving copies in Google Drive.

"Transfer your chat history to another Android device. Securely transfer your chat and enjoy the latest messages without using Google Drive. You’ll need a number of permissions to connect to a new device,” the feature description says.

According to WABetaInfo, the chat transfer option is available within WhatsApp Settings > Chats and it allows users to migrate their chat history to a new Android device. After selecting this option, you will have to scan the provided QR code to initiate the process to migrate your chat history to the new Android device.

The new function will facilitate and speed up the transfer of chats, as it will no longer require you to first create a backup of your data and then restore it.

The new feature is still only available to selected beta testers. There is no word yet on when it will be available to everyone.

Earlier, WhatsApp launched another feature that allows you to access the same messenger account from multiple devices at the same time.

Messenger has recently launched another new feature for Android smartphones, which makes it easier to navigate in communities (Communities).
