Today, June 8, the onset of one of the most powerful magnetic storms in recent times is expected. This was reported by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to data from the STEREO spacecraft, the plasma cloud ejected by the Sun on June 6 is directed straight toward Earth. Based on calculations, the plasma could reach our planet within 2–3 hours after the report (published at 11:55).
What happened
At the beginning of June, a powerful surge in solar activity was observed. One of the plasma clouds, which was initially not directed at Earth, has changed its trajectory and is now approaching our planet. This is the last in a series of ejections, which will "emerge" near Earth.
