At a closed Honor User Carnival event in China, the company showcased a working prototype of its conceptual Robot Phone smartphone. The official debut is scheduled for February 2026 at MWC in Barcelona, but the demonstration already made one thing clear: Honor is preparing one of its most unusual devices in years.

The main feature is immediately eye-catching — a pop-up camera mounted on a miniature motorized gimbal. The module hides completely inside the body, then rises smoothly when activated and can rotate freely to adjust the shooting angle. Honor representatives said the built-in AI tracks subjects in real time, automatically adjusts the camera’s position, and selects the best settings. In essence, it’s a smartphone that “follows” the action on its own and captures footage more effectively than a human could by manually aiming the lens.

The prototype was shown in three colors: black, white, and gold. Depending on the model, the back panel is made either of tempered glass or premium synthetic leather.

Honor has not yet revealed the exact specifications, price, or final name of the commercial version. What is known is that a production Robot Phone is indeed planned for release — it’s not just a showpiece concept. Given that the company has spent years experimenting with mechanical components (such as its foldable Magic V line), a robotized camera seems entirely plausible for a mass-market product.
