China has achieved a breakthrough in radar anti-jamming technology, successfully testing an AI-enhanced system that delivers near-perfect target tracking even in complex electronic warfare conditions. According to a study published in the Chinese journal Information Studies, the AI-based system improved radar target tracking continuity from a traditional 70-80 percent to over 99 percent during flight tests.

These remarkable test results indicate a fundamental shift in radar capabilities, potentially transforming the landscape of modern electronic warfare. Zhang Jie, the lead researcher from the 14th Research Institute of the China Electronics Technology Group in Nanjing, described this as a “paradigm shift in radar system design philosophy” in his peer-reviewed paper published last month.

Advanced AI Adaptations Overcome Traditional Limitations

The tests were conducted using an aircraft equipped with an AI-enhanced radar system, subjected to “modern, sophisticated jamming” that typically degrades conventional radar performance. While traditional radar systems lost their target approximately 25 percent of the time during such encounters, the AI-supported system maintained tracking with near-perfect accuracy.

As reported by Newsweek, China’s military modernization increasingly focuses on countering advanced Western radar and missile systems. Recent reports indicate that Chinese researchers have also developed “telepathic radar” systems, enabling military units to share information without emitting detectable signals, as well as frequency-diverse array systems designed to make aircraft nearly invisible to enemy electronic surveillance.
