Students of the Faculty of General Medicine of the Yerevan State Medical University participated in the International Research Competition for Young Scientist, IRCYS2022, held in Indonesia, and received the Excellence Award, informs the Department of Public Relations and Information of the Ministry of Medical Sciences of Armenia.
Graduates of Heratsi high school, now 1st year students of YSMU Mher Sarafyan, Mane Kurghinyan and 3rd year student Mher Kurghinyan presented their two research projects under the guidance of biology teacher Rubina Harutyunyan, which were carried out in collaboration with research institutions in Armenia.
The first project, which was presented at the international contest of research works of young scientists called "EcoProtein; Single Cell Protein Production as a Way of Recycling Fruit and Vegetable Wastes" was carried out at the Innovative Center of Microbial Biotechnology and Biofuel at YSU. The second research work: "The influence of Wi-Fi rays on human cell cultures; the difference between cancer and non-cancer cells" was carried out at the Institute of Molecular Biology.
More than 1,000 teams from five continents participated in the prestigious competition, 50 of which made it to the finals. Both works submitted by students from Armenia were awarded with Excellence Award by the jury and were guaranteed to be published in the journal of the Indonesian Society of Science (JISS).
The project "Ecoprotein, Three Problems, One Solution" by Mane Kurghinyan and Mher Sarafyan, one of the participants of the international research competition for young scientists, was earlier recognized as the winner at the Armenian All-School Science Festival, becoming one of the three projects that received the highest marks from the jury of the 2022 festival.
