Along with the main Mate 70 models, Huawei has also introduced the older versions of its flagships - the Mate 70 Pro+ and Mate 70 RS smartphones. In fact, these are improved versions of the Huawei Mate 70 Pro smartphone: they are equipped with more capacious batteries, offer more RAM, and the cases are made of higher-quality materials.
The back panel of the Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ has a coating made of a material interwoven with gold threads and nylon fabric. The material shines beautifully in the light, but also withstands mechanical stress, the manufacturer assures. The frame is made of a titanium alloy, which Huawei calls high-brightness basalt (dark volcanic rock), which is very strong and also resistant to scratches and water. The body is protected from dust and moisture according to the IP69 standard.
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ screen has a diagonal of 6.9 inches with a resolution of 2832 × 1316 pixels. It is an LTPO OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a brightness of 2500 nits/m² and a second-generation Kunlun protective glass. In addition to the front camera, a 3D face scanner is built into the screen, while the fingerprint scanner is located on the side of the phone. The processor, according to some information, is the Kirin 9100. It is manufactured using 6 nm technology and includes one Arm Cortex-X1 core with a frequency of 2.67 GHz, Cortex-A78 (2.32 GHz) and Cortex-A55 cores (2.02 GHz). The amount of RAM is 16 GB.
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ has three main cameras: a main one with a 50-megapixel RYYB sensor, a 24mm lens, and a variable aperture of f/1.4–f/4.0; a wide-angle one with a 40-megapixel RYYB sensor and a 13mm lens and an aperture of f/2.2; and a telephoto camera with a 48-megapixel RYYB sensor, a 92.5mm lens, an aperture of f/2.1, 4x zoom, and the ability to focus in close proximity. The front-facing camera is a 13-megapixel shooter with an f/2.4 aperture. The smartphone is powered by a 5,700mAh battery (200mAh more than the Mate 70 and 70 Pro).
The more expensive Huawei Mate 70 RS is also made of “high-brightness titanium,” but offers a higher-quality display and protective glass. The screen size is the same – 6.9 inches, the LTPO matrix supports up to 120Hz refresh rate, the resolution is the same FHD+, but it’s a dual-layer OLED display and its maximum brightness is 3,500 nits. As protection, a stronger Kunlun “basalt tempered glass” is used. Other technical specifications are the same as those of the Mate 70 Pro+.
The new products have support for Baidu Satellite Connectivity. Both smartphones run on the HarmonyOS 4.3 or HarmonyOS 5.0 operating system, depending on the modification. The latter was previously known as HarmonyOS NEXT, and it is distinguished by the fact that it completely abandons Android elements: According to Huawei, it is a fully autonomous platform that marks a new stage in the company's development. Versions running HarmonyOS 4.3 can be upgraded to HarmonyOS 5.0.
The Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ is available in Ink Black, Feather White, Gold, and Silver Brocade, as well as Flying Blue colors, priced at 8,499 yuan ($1,173) for the 16/512 GB configuration and 9,499 yuan ($1,311) for the 16 GB RAM and 1 TB built-in memory version. The Huawei Mate 70 RS is available in red, white, and black; the 16/512 GB configuration will cost 11,999 yuan ($1,656), and the 16 GB/1 TB will cost 12,999 yuan ($1,794). Pre-orders for both models have already begun. The smartphones will go on sale starting December 19.
