Asus has officially introduced its ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro flagship smartphones. They are still designed for gamers, but now they are more suitable for other users, thanks to an improved camera with a periscope module and IP68 protection.

Both models are built on the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. The ROG Phone 9 has up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 built-in memory. The Pro version has up to 24 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of built-in memory. The devices have received an improved cooling system, and the package includes an important accessory - the AeroCase active cooler.

Both smartphones received AMOLED screens with a diagonal of 6.78 inches, Full HD + resolution and a maximum brightness of 2500 nits and 107% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. The frame rate has increased from last year's 165 Hz to 185 Hz. Both models are equipped with an additional AniMe Vision screen, which is a mini-LED matrix.

In the case of the younger model, the matrix consists of 85 LEDs, in the case of the older one - 648. AniMe Vision can display various images (including animated GIFs) and text. On the additional screen, you can play four games, including Snake.

The devices received batteries with a capacity of 5800 mAh, which is 300 mAh more than the ROG Phone 8. The maximum charging power is 65 W, and it also supports 15 W wireless charging.

The main camera of the ROG Phone 9 is represented by a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700 sensor with a 1/1.56-inch optical format as part of the main module, 13 megapixels as part of the ultra-wide-angle lens module and 5 megapixels for macro shooting. The front camera has a 32-megapixel sensor. The Pro version has a third module with a 32-megapixel 1/3-inch optical format sensor and 3x optical zoom.

Both models are equipped with a standard jack for connecting wired headphones and have support for Dirac Virtuo sound enhancement technology. Both models run Android 15, and Asus promises 2 major Android updates and another 4 years of security updates.

Asus ROG Phone 9 with 12/256 GB of memory configuration costs $1,000 or €1,100. The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, with a 16GB/512GB configuration, costs $1,200 or €1,300. And the top-of-the-line 24GB/1TB version costs $1,500.
