Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition smartphone, which has the thinnest and lightest body in the history of the Galaxy Z Fold series. Presumably, this device will be renamed Samsung Galaxy W25 in China.
In South Korea, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is scheduled to be released on October 25 for around $2,000 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of built-in storage. The device will have one color option: Black (Black Shadow).
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is 10.6mm thick and weighs 236g, making it 1.5mm thinner and 3g lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. When unlocked, the flagship smartphone has an 8-inch display with a 20:18 aspect ratio. The external display measures 6.5 inches with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The device has a frame made of armored aluminum, and the front and rear screens are made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Technically, it differs slightly from the Z Fold 6. For the first time in the Galaxy Z series, the Special Edition comes with a 200MP main camera with OIS support. It is joined by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle module with autofocus and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Inside, the smartphone has a 4 MP camera under the display and is also equipped with a 10 MP selfie camera on the external display. Except for the internal camera, all cameras on the Z Fold 6 Special Edition support 4K video recording at 60fps. The main camera supports 8K video recording at 30fps.
Powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition ships with Galaxy AI and One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14. The device will receive One UI 7.0 with Android 15 in early 2025. In addition to Android 15, it is confirmed to receive six more OS updates and seven years of security updates.
The device is equipped with a 4400mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. It has dual SIM and e-SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, UWB and USB-C support.
