Some users of iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro smartphones have complained that the device's battery drains quickly. Users complained on Reddit, Apple support communities, and the MacRumors forums. Most users have complained about the iPhone 16, although older iPhones running iOS 18 are also experiencing issues.
On MacRumors, there were complaints about battery life from users who installed iOS 18 after beta testing, but after the release of the final version of iOS 18 and the release of the iPhone 16, a new wave of complaints began. iPhone 16 owners who have encountered this problem have noticed that the battery charge drops significantly even when the smartphone is not in use.
"The iPhone 16 Pro's battery charge drops from 100% to almost 60% in the middle of the day, even without active use of the smartphone. Definitely needs a fix, should have kept my 15 Pro,” wrote a user named T1aaj.
“In some cases, the majority of battery drain occurs in standby mode when the iPhone is not in use, suggesting that background activity may cause problems for some users. The 16 Pro performs terribly in standby mode while sleeping (it's not connected to my Apple Watch). It's running in the background like crazy,” wrote another user named huanbrother.
“I upgraded my iPhone 12 and got the new 16 Pro. I upgraded mainly because of the battery and speaker issues, but I noticed that even though the iPhone 16 has a better battery and lasts longer, it drains about 10-15% overnight if it's just sitting on a shelf on," another user wrote.
