Armenia became a full member of the Association for European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST). This decision was made by COST's Committee of Senior Officials.

COST President Professor Alain Beretz said that Armenia's status as a full member of COST would further increase COST's influence, further expand the association's excellence and inclusiveness. “By becoming a family of 41 members, COST is proud to bring together research talent and provide platforms on which ideas can grow and lead to breakthrough scientific results,” he added.

The association website also states that Armenia has met all conditions to become a full member of COST, including association with two previous EU Framework Programs for Research and Innovation (FP7 and H2020).

ABOUT COST

The Association for European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) is an organization that funds research network projects (COST Actions). These networks offer an open space for collaboration between scientists in Europe (and beyond) and thereby stimulate research progress and innovation.

COST works on a bottom-up logic, which means that researchers can build a network based on their own research interests and ideas by sending a proposal to COST. The proposal can be in any field of science. COST projects are interdisciplinary and open. It is possible to join ongoing projects, which can thus be expanded and continue to be funded for up to four years. COST projects have many stakeholders and often include the private sector, policy makers, and civil society.

Since 1971, COST has received EU funding through various research and innovation frameworks, such as Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.
