iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will get Samsung's most modern M14 OLED screens

July 2, 2024  19:15

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature the latest M14 OLED panels from Samsung, according to South Korean publication ETNews, citing sources within the production chain.

The letter "M" denotes the set of materials used by Samsung for manufacturing displays, while the number 14 indicates the generation. The latest generation is the 14th. M14 panels offer higher image quality and overall product quality compared to their predecessors.

It has also been revealed that the more affordable models — the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus — will be equipped with M12 panels, which are two generations older than the M14.

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are not the only flagship phones in 2024 to feature Samsung's M14 panels. According to ETNews, all models in the new Google Pixel 9 lineup will also receive these advanced screens.

The iPhone 16 series is likely to be unveiled in September 2024, while Google is expected to announce the new Pixel smartphones on August 13 at the Made by Google event.
