The Verge names best Android smartphones of 2024

The reputable English-language tech website The Verge has released its ranking of the best Android smartphones for the first half of 2024.

The winner in this comparison is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, which received high marks for its 6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as for using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The device is equipped with a 4,900mAh battery and supports both wired and wireless charging. Its cameras, with 50MP, 10MP, and 12MP sensors, allow for photos with 3x optical zoom.

In second place is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Verge dubbed it "the best uncompromising smartphone." The Chinese flagship OnePlus 12 took the third place thanks to its 6.82-inch 1440p OLED display with a high refresh rate, support for Dolby Vision, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, up to 24GB of RAM in the top version, and a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging support. The Verge called the OnePlus 12 the best smartphone for those tired of the widespread adoption of AI.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro was also noted by the publication for its 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Tensor G3 chip, 5,050mAh battery, 30W wired charging, and 23W wireless charging. Its cameras include a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x zoom, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10.5MP front camera. With IP68 protection against dust and water, The Verge considers the Pixel 8 Pro an ideal solution for family photo and video chronicles.

Additionally, the journalists highlighted the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Nothing Phone (2) as particularly noteworthy devices. They also mentioned the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, OnePlus Open, and Google Pixel 8a as worthy of recognition.
