Telegram update: Hashtags and a number of new features

June 3, 2024  13:58

The Telegram messenger has received a fresh update that includes a number of new features. The main innovations are support for hashtags and collapsible quotes, as well as other useful improvements.

Working with hashtags and collapsible quotes

One of the important innovations was improved work with hashtags. Now, when you click on a hashtag, you can view search results for large public channels in the form of a feed of publications or a list. There's also a collapsible quote feature that allows you to select text as a quote and collapse it for easier reading.

Animated effects

According to 3DNews, users can now send messages with animated effects that automatically play when opening a chat. The free version of the messenger provides access to six such effects, and Telegram Premium users can choose from several hundred effects. To add animation, you need to press and hold the send button, then select the desired emoticon.

Captions for images and videos

The new version makes it possible to place captions above images and videos, and not below them, as was the case before. To do this, you also need to press and hold the send button. Captions can be edited even after the post has been submitted.

Improved menu for phone numbers

The menu when clicking on a phone number in a message has also been updated. Users can now quickly add numbers to contacts, making working with phone numbers much easier.

New features for macOS

The version of Telegram for macOS received dynamic backgrounds and animations during voice and video calls. Previously, such designs were only available on Android and iOS devices.

Let us remind you that Telegram recently received a large-scale update, in which, along with a number of other changes, a convenient sticker editor also appeared. Now users can create their own stickers or sticker packs right inside the application, from almost any image. The messenger can also obtain biometric authentication for users.
