WhatsApp will have a new feature

March 4, 2024  20:25

WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow Android users to choose which third-party apps can chat with the messenger.

An examination of the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (2.24.6.2) (it's available on Google Play), shows that the messenger is working on an option to disable the third-party chat service.

This is required by Article 7 of the EU Regulation governing user control over data sharing.

If the user completely disables third-party chat, existing chats will be read-only (not writable).

The third-party chat adjustment feature is currently under development and will be available in a future update. And the ability to chat with a third party was generally introduced in Android version 2.24.5.20.

Earlier it was reported that the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (code number 2.24.4.23) has added an updated Status tab, which is meant to improve how people interact with content in this format.

WhatsApp has also recently introduced new text formatting features that allow you to structure text, highlight quotes, and use other types of text formatting.
