Which AirPods will Apple release in 2024 and 2025?

Apple plans to release several new AirPods models this year. And at least one more new model will be released in 2025. This information was shared by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

He previously said that “at the end of 2024” Apple plans to release two fourth-generation AirPods models, as well as update AirPods Max. Now he confirms that the plan is “still underway.”

According to Gurman, the base fourth-generation AirPods will feature a new design with an improved fit. They will also feature improved audio quality and an updated charging case with a USB-C port. In addition, more expensive fourth-generation AirPods could arrive before the end of the year with active noise cancellation and a speaker in the charging case that can play audio for Find My location tracking.

But Apple will most likely stop producing AirPods of the second and third generations after the launch of two new fourth-generation models.

According to the insider, the updated AirPods Max will receive a USB-C port instead of Lightning for charging and wired audio playback, but most likely there will be no other major changes to them. Additionally, the over-ear headphones may also be available in new colors.

Gurman expects Apple to release new AirPods Pro in 2025 with design changes and an "upgraded chip" to improve sound quality.

Apple is rumored to be adding a hearing aid mode to its headphones as part of a software update, making AirPods an over-the-counter alternative to traditional medical devices. Apple also plans to introduce tests to check the quality of hearing.
