The police in the Chinese province of Fujian arrested a woman who had decided to steal an iPhone 14 Plus smartphone in an unusual way in an electronics store. She gnawed and tore off the metal wire with which the smartphone was attached to the counter so that it would not be stolen.

The video surveillance camera captured the scene of this theft, and this footage quickly went viral on Chinese social media.

In the video, the aforesaid woman is seen approaching the display table on which the iPhone 14 Plus smartphone is placed, and then she covers the phone with her hand and begins to test the strength of the metal wire by biting it. Making sure that no one is watching her, the woman gnaws off the wire, hides the stolen smartphone in her bag, and quickly leaves the scene.

But only 30 minutes later, the police caught the woman. She was found guilty of causing a damage of 7,000 yuan—about $960, the price of the smartphone in that store.

During the questioning, the woman admitted her guilt and said that she really wanted to buy a new smartphone manufactured by Apple, but her financial situation did not enable her to do so, so she had decided to resort to this step.

A few months ago, two men in the US had robbed an Apple store in Alderwood Mall and stole 436 iPhones worth about $500,000. And they did it in a very unique way: the men had cut a hole in the wall of the bathroom of the nearby Seattle Coffee Gear cafe, through which they entered the back room of the aforesaid Apple store, bypassing the latter's security system.
