WhatsApp will have a new function: Why is it important?

August 29, 2023  18:12

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that aims to improve call privacy. According to the website WABetaInfo, which specializes in the analysis of updates in the messenger, users will be able to hide their IP address while making calls.

Hiding the IP address will, however, make it difficult to pinpoint the true location of the caller. For this, the calls will go through WhatsApp servers, which in turn can slightly reduce the quality of the connection. The availability of the function can be checked in the messenger settings by going to the "Privacy" menu, then the "Calls" section.

In addition, WhatsApp provides protection against wiretapping on calls and messages using end-to-end encryption. According to the messenger's developers, this helps protect users' messages, photos, videos, voicemails, documents and calls from third parties.

The new function was found in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android under the number 2.23.18.15. Its launch dates for users of the stable versions of the app on Android, iOS and Windows have not yet been revealed.

WhatsApp regularly introduces new features. Recently, it became known that users in the messenger will soon be able to send each other high-resolution photos and videos, create their own stickers with the help of artificial intelligence.

WhatsApp also recently announced that it will add a new feature to protect messages. In another innovation, Messenger has also recently added the function to add multiple accounts to one phone at the same time.
