The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk is on everyone’s lips today: everyone is wondering if the two billionaires will really meet in the ring, if so, how the fight will go and who will win.
What do we know about this fight so far? And who has a better chance of winning?
It all started with the fact that Elon Musk found out that Meta was going to create a social network similar to Twitter, and wrote that he was ready for a fight in the ring with Zuckerberg. The latter posted a screenshot of Musk's post with the caption "Send me the location." Musk, in turn, answered briefly: “Las Vegas, Octagon.”
According to the information on the network, Musk abandoned the idea of fighting Zuckerberg under the rules of jiu-jitsu. This idea was proposed to the opponents by the researcher in the field of artificial intelligence Lex Friedman, who is also the owner of a black belt in jiu-jitsu.
Friedman wrote on his Twitter that if the fight between Zuckerberg and Musk went according to the rules of jiu-jitsu, it would definitely be a fun plot twist.
In the comments, Musk suggested to fight completely according to the rules of MMA.
Friedman wrote that he loved the idea.
Previously, he arranged practice fights with Musk and Zuckerberg as part of their preparation for the fight. After sparring with Musk, Friedman admitted that he was "very impressed" with his strength and ability to fight on his feet and on the ground. And following the results of the sparring with Zuckerberg, Friedman posted a video in which he showed how they throw each other in the legs and train chokeholds.
The fight between Zuckerberg and Musk in a cage will be the most watched fight in the history of the world and will bring in much more than $1 billion. This opinion was expressed by the President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White.
According to him, the previous most watched fight was Conor McGregor's match with Floyd Mayweather in 2017, which brought in more than $600 million in revenue. According to the forecasts of the specialist, the fight between Musk and Zuckerberg could triple this amount.
White also noted that many people think that talk about this fight is just a joke of billionaires who have so much fun with the public and the media, but in fact, Musk and Zuckerberg remain determined to fight.
Dana White also said that both Zuckerberg and Musk are able to prove themselves in combat: the former practices jiu-jitsu, while the latter practiced martial arts and "participated in a lot of fights while growing up in South Africa."
White also noted that the payment for online viewing of the Battle of the Billionaires will be $100, while regular championship fights can be watched for $80. It is not yet known how much a ticket to the arena will cost, but for sure the price will be very high.
51-year-old Elon Musk is taller and heavier than 39-year-old Mark Zuckerberg, and this can give him certain advantages. According to The Guardian, with a height of 187 cm, Musk weighs about 85 kg, while Zuckerberg, with a height of 171 cm, weighs less than 70 kg.
On the other hand, Zuckerberg is into Jiu-Jitsu and has already won tournaments, while Musk admits that he only trains by throwing his kids in the air.
The popular American betting company DraftKings calls Zuckerberg the favorite, as he is in the best shape. DraftKings director of racing and sports operations Johnny Avello noted that Zuckerberg recently entered a competition in which he ran a mile, did 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 squats before running another mile - all while wearing a nine-kilogram vest.
But the online bookmaker Bovada considers Musk to be the favorite.
“We can appreciate that Zuckerberg has experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but in the ring we would most likely tip the scales in favor of Musk as a literal heavyweight,” a Bovada spokesperson told Insider.
The duel between the two billionaires may not actually take place, as Musk's mom May Musk has banned him from fighting Zuckerberg.
“Actually, I canceled the fight. But she hasn't told them yet. However, I will continue to say that the fight is canceled, just in case…” she wrote on Twitter.
Prior to this, the billionaire's mother offered to fight "in words."
“Fight only with words. Sitting in chairs. At a distance of a meter from each other. The funniest of you wins,” she wrote.
In response to this post, Musk left a comment with a laughing emoji. Under her other post in which she opposed the fight, he wrote: "Mom, I'm still going to fight him, stop it."
The theme of the duel between Musk and Zuckerberg is so popular today that the Canadian studio Blue Wizard released the game Zuck v Musk, in which billionaires fight in the ring.
According to PCMag, it's a free 2D game for PC users, it's available on the web at zuckvmusk.com and doesn't even need to be downloaded.
The game has 2 modes -- single and multiplayer, where you can fight against friends. To control the characters, only the left-right movement buttons (A and D), jump (W), block (S) and strike (space) are used. In the game, you can strike with your fist, elbow or throw the enemy.
The game is actually a modified version of WrestleBros. from the same studio from which all the participants were cut - Zuckerberg and Musk were added instead.
